Girls Scout Cookie Sales!

Kaitlyn is a Daisy Girl Scout and therefore sells cookies once a year.  So, on Saturday we went to Albertson's down the street and Kaitlyn was put to work with her fellow Daisy and they sold Girl Scout Cookies.  It was the most entertainment I had all weekend.  Kaitlyn was quite the salesgirl. Customers would ask her how much a box of cookies was and she would reply, " $4" while pointing to the huge sign in front of the person.  After the first customer left and had paid Kaitlyn looks at me pulls her fist down in a train whistle motion and says, "Kaching!"  Will was so proud, I was a little mortified, but also thought it was funny.

The majority of instances went like this. Kaitlyn would ask people while they walked out of the store, "  Hi!  Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?"  and they would either say yes or no.  If they said no, Emily would ask some of these same people, " Would you like to buy some from me?"  Believe it or not, THAT WORKED!

At one point Kaitlyn commented, "Mommy, some of these people can't hear.  They won't answer me!"

The story that tops them all was when customers would ask, " What cookies are you selling?"  She would give them the big spiel that ended with, " My Bampa really likes the Samoas.  He had 3 boxes and ate all of them.  He can eat a whole cookie in just one bite!"

The Latest!

Things have not been great lately with me, so after a long weekend of discomfort I called my doctor and he wanted to see me.  My right foot constantly felt like I had sand in my shoe and my right leg was really tired.  I have also had pain in my right elbow and armpit.   Other that that I have been partying like a rock star!

So I went in and he gave me another disability test.  He tests my reflex, pricks me with pins, checks my eyes, runs a hard stick on the bottom of my feet, puts something cold on both sides of my body to see if the temp feels different, he has me touch my hand to his finger and my nose, he then finishes with the grand finale of putting a vibrating tool on my feet and then my hands.

After all that he said, to my happiness actually, things look great!  He said that typically my brain can overcompensate for all the stuff I am thinking about and what is going on with my body, but Will and I have a lot going on and so my brain is saying, " I will take care of your thoughts, but you are dealing with everything else."   Then he said, " It sounds like you need to slow down a little, Sandy."  Will then pipes in, "Yes."  He then added that he thinks my MRI will go very well on Wednesday and will call with the results when he gets back in town.  All those things gave me a huge sense of peace.  I am feeling much better and will be trying to cut back more.  I am not very good at that.

$1,080 and Counting!

I will admit that I check the Gingell Gang site daily to see who has joined and I get excited every time I see that we have a new member.   We have at least 12 members and have raised $1080!  I am very excited about all the headway that has been made in the world of MS in this last year.  In fact in the last two weeks I have talked to the girls' pediatrician and was told that since they do not eat fish, they should be taking cod liver oil daily.  Kaitlyn likes it, but Emily was not as appeasing.  This all correlates with the lack of Vitamin D intake in the Pacific Region.

If you have not joined our team and would like to join me at Pioneer Courthouse Square  at 10:00 am on April 4th here is the link:

Kaitlyn's Science Fair Project

As many may know or remember, Science is not exactly my strong subject.  So when the Science Fair sheets were coming home in the mail, I had decided we could start it next year in first grade. I knew this was something Kaitlyn would love and since Jessica, my sister-in-law, was a science teacher, I knew this event was going to happen in our lifetime on several occasions.   I have to admit, as much as I wanted Kaitlyn to get to participate, I was very nervous I would screw it up.

Then the magical call came.  "Sandy, can I help Kaitlyn with
her Science Fair Project?"  I have not been that happy since they called to tell me my thyroid was normal!  So, of course I said yes, and the next thing  I know Kaitlyn and Jessica are Team Gardener. Kaitlyn's question is "How long does a plant stay underground?" They went to the store and bought a journal, pencils, cups, dirt, and seeds for Bok Choy, radishes, and Bush beans.  They filled out the registration form and got the project started.  They planted the same amount of seeds in each cup and decided how much to water and sweet Jessica appeased my daughter and came on Saturday and Sunday to water the plants and journal the progress with Kaitlyn.

Well, Monday morning Kaitlyn came running in to tell me that they had sprouted!  She was so thrilled!  Then she told Will and called Jessica at 10:45 am (the official journaling time) to tell her everything.  I love watching her be so excited about Science!  This was something I never got to experience and I am glad that she will not have the same overwhelming fear attitude as me.  Go Team Gardener!

Here is the project:  (Jessica- I did wash the standing water off after the picture:)

Where's Emily?

A couple of weeks ago, I was upstairs reading with Kaitlyn in the afternoon and I thought to myself,"  It's awfully quiet.."  That is bad in every aspect in this house.

Danger#1--Emily is sleeping and will NEVER go to bed tonight.

Danger #2--Emily is coloring, painting, or decorating herself.

I was not even thinking that what I saw would be happening.
In this picture, for the record, Emily is sound asleep.  I have always told my friends that my children can sleep through anything.  Maybe this is proof.

The Team is Up and Walking!

I have officially set up the website to register for the MS Walk in Portland for the Gingell Gang in 2009.  The walk takes place on April 4 at Pioneer Square, same as last year. I would love to have all of my friends come and join me this year!   Here is the link to sign up:

On the Ice

While Will and I were car shopping with the girls we decided recently to take a break and stop by the Valley Ice Arena and ice skate with the girls. Mimi bought the movie Ice Princess with Michelle Trachtenberg and ever since my girls have wanted to be ice skaters.  In fact, nightly Emily will stand in the tub and slide her legs back and forth yelling, "Look at me Dister, I'm skating."

It was a little harder than they thought when actually in ice skates.  Kaitlyn, takes after her mother and was not a fan of how cold this activity was.  I agree, it was not this cold when I watched the movie either.  When Kaitlyn and I were skating together, I fell on her too.  I do not think that this helped with her love of the ice.
Emily did pretty well, actually.  She would skate and pull Will. I then thought, perfect, let's switch kids.  Will can skate with Peanut and Emily can pull me, but to my delight (sarcasm) Emily proceeded to say, " I don't want to skate with you, I want to skate with Daddy!" and look at me with disappointment as I struggled with her on the ice.  Apparently, we don't have the same partner chemistry she had with her father.

After Kaitlyn and I fell one more time she informed me that she was done and it's too cold.  I couldn't disagree, so we put on our shoes and Will and Emily did a few more laps.  After skating for about an hour we were glad that we had tried this activity and realized out children will probably not be Winter Olympians.
